The cure is worse than the disease. Let's not introduce additional variables that impact players' expectations, especially when we have no idea what the end impact would be. Ecto would lose some value...but how much?

no.

I'm all for raising the xunlai amount, thats all fine and good, but leave the trade and player pocket-size alone. theres no reason to kill the wealth amassed by players that way. People shouldnt be forced to convert to ecto if they dont want to, but ecto shouldnt all the sudden lose all value either.

Even though I dont have that much gold yet, I can understand that those who have actively played since the dawn of GW have probably accumulated their fair share of armbraces and ectos, to compensate for the 1M gold level.

That said, seems to me that money-making has only really been made easy since z-quests, and SCs, so fairly recently? (I still want more money storage)

People are worrying about ectos, but why? They would be obsolete, so it wont matter, almost.

Still not sure why the 100k cap was put in place for character and trade. Raise character, chest and trade amounts considerably.

This isn't a money game where economy matters, so I see no reason for raising gold cap.
If you have 1M gold in chest either you play too much or you spend too little.
Same for huge amounts of gold on characters.

Sure, for some people the current cap hurts, but it's a very small group of players.

I don't care about the storage cap since I've never had that kind of money, but I'll sign on the inventory/trade cap increase.

And if you took all 100$ bills out of the united state economy what would happen?

Basically because of the cap ectos have basically become a third teir in the currency of the game (gold -->plat--> ecto) removing that top teir will remove a large quantity of wealth within the game. There's really no saying what such a drastic action would be. I am in favor of increasing the xunlai a bit...maybe even the inventory cap.....so long as the trade cap stays in play.

in case you didn't catch that

I don't see anything so wrong with the current system that we need to risk something bad happening by raising the character limit. Removing/Raising the storage limit could be ok, but /notsigned for characters.

I hate using ectos in trades. Converting them to and from gold is just a pain in the ass.

Well, if they were to do that, then characters and the storage chest would need to be adjusted as well. You can't sell something for 1mil gold if you have no where that is big enough to hold that amount.

How will this change the fact that ecto is valuable? I don't see this changing the value of ecto much, if at all.

The only thing I'm thinking is.. if you have 5million gold, then you're obviously going to buy high-end things, not 1k-5k stuff.. so since most high-end things require payment in ectos (possibly 100k+ectos), what is the point in having so much gold?

ectos are really no rarer these days then almost any other rare crafting material because of how many farming builds there are and people having large quantities of them. The reason the prices are the way they are is because they are inflated due to the use of ectos as a currency. I would expect ectos to drop down to 1k ea or less if this were implemented.

You would think this far along into the game this would have been implemented already but...

/notsigned

I would rather them spend their time and money working on Guild Wars 2, rather this very dead game, it wouldn't cause any players who left to return, it would merely be a desperate and expensive attempt to keep what small amount of players who do still play, and chances are it would only work for so long until players complain about inflation.

Besides this would only encourage more RMT,which leads to Botting, and Account Theft attempts, I know some of you are going to disagree with me but its true.

The problem isn't that you can only hold 100K, the problem is that people have raised the cost of items far higher then they should ever have. If they wanted to ever fix the game, then they need to make a way for the game to recognize the value of the total trade and stop it from surpassing 100K.

raising the cap on trades would make ecto as valuable as, say deldrimore steel, useful only as a crafting material.
If an item costs 50ecto, thats 350k, currently. If we are all the sudden able to put 350k in a char's pocket, or in a trade window, we no longer use ectos, and they become worthless.

Let me clairify what i originally said.
Do not raise the amount of gold a charicter is able to hold past 100k, and do not raise trade window limits beyond 100k. I am 100% FOR raising the amount of gold your storage holds to...10 million? 25? unlimited, really.
That way if someone who amasses over 1,000k doesnt want to convert cash to ecto, they dont feel they need to; but by not changing the trade system, we dont kill the value of the ectos many of us have.

Also change how much you can hold to 500k and chest to 5,000 platinum. That way ectos might sharply go down in value.

Easy update...

I'm all for the idea, but I think it's far to late in the game to make this kind of an update. I would expect this for GW2 though.
